The Country Lodge Karatu is Rural Lodge located on the outskirts of Karatu, a tiny country hamlet in the Ngorongoro Highlands, midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, in the heart of Northern Tanzania’s green belt area and agricultural community.
The Country Inn Karatu symbolizes basic rural amenities, offering comfortable and economical accomodation in the midst of Tanzania’s lush and attractive northern highlands and coffee fields. Much of the vegetables served in the lodge is grown by us. Karatu is an excellent starting point for exploring the Ngorongoro Crater and beyond. Day visits to Lake Manyara National Park and Lake Eyasi for cultural experiences are simple. Our resort is set on the outskirts of Karatu town, surrounded by undulating hills that stretch up to the coffee producing region of Oldeani and the wilderness of Ngorongoro. Garden paths lead to twelve double cottages surrounded by beautiful lawns and bordered by colorful bougainvillea, tropical plants, and trees.
