RONDO RETREAT CENTRE

RONDO RETREAT CENTRE

The peaceful Rondo Retreat Centre in the Kakamega Rainforest invites you to stay for a few days and pursue your hobbies as a butterfly collector, beetle expert, frog lover, spider hunter, tourist, or bird watcher. Rondo Retreat is part of the Trinity Fellowship, a Christian organization dedicated to communication and conservation. Communicating the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ to all people worldwide, as well as protecting the environment and its resources in order to satisfy global needs.

Rondo was originally owned by a sawmiller who, in 1948, erected a home at the base of what was supposed to be the largest tree in the Forest, an Elgon Olive, the stump of which still exists today. In 1961, the sawmiller left Kenya, giving the land to the Christian Council of Kenya. The Trinity Fellowship, led by the Reverend and Mrs. Cuthbert (Cubby) and Mathilde (Thilde) Dawkins, formally took over Rondo in 1966.
